Highlights
- With so many muscle cars being changed to a bright red exterior color from other more muted assembly-line-applied hues, it’s refreshing to see one that was originally red, like this 1969 Dodge Coronet Super Bee. It was also factory equipped w/ the code A39 Scat Pak Special Package, which included an air scoop Ramcharger hood, special hood paint treatment, three-speed windshield wipers, & F70x14 raised-white-letter tires or F70x14 red streak tires
- The seller found this Charger Red B-body online at a car dealer in Houston, Texas, in 2018, & purchased it. The Mopar then received a K-frame-off restoration two years ago, & its 383-cu.in. engine & column-shifted automatic transmission are said by the seller to have “matching numbers"
- The seller, who uses the Super Bee for car shows and cruises, has provided a photo of the partial VIN stamp on the block for confirmation (see "Tags" below)
- Powertrain: The four-barrel, 335-horsepower, 425-lb-ft of torque, Magnum 383-cu.in. OHV V8 “has just 770 miles on it since its rebuild to stock specifications,” he assures
- “Pump the gas pedal a couple of times & start it. The idle is good, & no smoke or leaks” are present
- The 727 TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission was checked during the restoration & resealed--it shifts well
- The rear ring-and-pinion gears were replaced, but the seller is unsure of the gear ratio that was installed
- Exterior: Repainted two years ago in its factory code-R4 Charger Red, the exterior finish remains “excellent,” the seller notes, w/ “no rust, swirls, or blemishes.”
- A new vinyl top & Bumble-Bee stripe were installed after the paintwork was completed
- The seals were replaced, the glass is of “good quality,” & the lighting functions as designed
- Interior: New black vinyl covers were installed on the seats & “all adjustments work, w/ no restrictions,” the seller reports
- The carpet was replaced, the headliner is “in good condition,” & the trim is intact
- All the gauges, the heater, and interior lighting work, as does the original AM radio
- Chassis: During the restoration, the torsion bar front-end & leaf-spring rear suspension were rebuilt--the bushings & shocks were replaced, per the seller
- The four-wheel drum brakes were also rebuilt, & the “pedal feels good all the time,” he comments
- American Racing 15-inch aluminum wheels are “in good shape,” and the Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires are “four-years old,” he reveals
- DOT date codes, to confirm tire age, are not visible in the images provided
- There are “no vibrations” while driving, & the rebuilt power steering is “in good condition, w/ no play, vagueness, or leaks,” he concludes
- Documentation: The seller states that this vehicle will be sold on a clean New Mexico title in his name. He adds, “receipts & photos” are included in the sale
- Thanks to its recent restoration, this 1969 Dodge Coronet Super Bee is road & show ready
