LOT 225
1966 Chevrolet
Corvette roadster
This 1959 Corvette is the product of a custom frame-off design completed in late August 2017.
Finished in Roman Red with White Cove paint.
It is powered by a Smeding High-Performance GM 383ci small block V8 crate engine fitted with a polished Holley Avenger EFI, and delivers its 450 horsepower through a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission with a hydro-boost clutch.
The Ford 9” rear end is a 3:55 with positraction and Strange axles.
The Street Rods by Auto Car Classics utilized Art Morrison’s suspension, which situates the engine lower in the car, significantly lowering its center of gravity.
It also employs Strange coil-over shock absorbers to enable complete ride adjustment, Wilwood 12” disc brakes, front and rear sway bars, and a power rack-and-pinion steering unit with a Flaming River steering column for improved handling response.
Originally a fuel injection vehicle, the only departure from stock body form is the neatly executed custom rear exhaust openings which allows for a larger exhaust and hood intake. The car’s original character is maintained in the interior with upgraded red leather and original instruments that have updated internals but retain their original look. Other features include custom audio and a Vintage Air system. The car rides on V speed rated BF Goodrich tires with American Racing Saltflat 17” alloy wheels.
This is a stunning car and it is built to drive.
